“OU Softball’s Charity Drive: Team Raises a Record $50,000 for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals”

The Oklahoma Sooners softball team has once again demonstrated their commitment to making a difference off the field, raising an impressive $50,000 for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. The fundraising effort was part of a season-long initiative focused on community service and giving back, reinforcing the team’s values of leadership, compassion, and responsibility.
Led by head coach Patty Gasso and supported by players, staff, and fans, the Sooners organized a series of fundraising events, including charity clinics, autograph sessions, and a special “Miracle Game” held at Marita Hynes Field. The game featured tributes to young patients and their families, who were honored during pre-game ceremonies and throughout the evening. All proceeds from ticket sales, merchandise, and donations collected during the events contributed to the final total.
Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals support pediatric healthcare across the nation, funding critical treatments, equipment, and services that insurance often doesn’t cover. The funds raised by OU softball will directly benefit Oklahoma’s local children’s hospitals, helping improve the lives of young patients and their families.
Coach Gasso praised the team’s dedication and the overwhelming support from the community. “We always talk about using our platform to inspire and uplift others. This effort is just one example of how these athletes are committed to more than just winning championships,” she said.
Players also expressed pride in being part of a program that emphasizes service. Senior infielder Tiare Jennings remarked, “It’s an incredible feeling knowing we can make a real difference in the lives of kids who are fighting tough battles every day.”
