Former Liverpool star’s impressive performance in a new league has caught Brighton’s attention

Former Liverpool forward Takumi Minamino is reportedly being considered for a return to the Premier League by Brighton & Hove Albion.
According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Minamino has garnered interest from Brighton’s coach Fabian Hurzeler due to his impressive performances at Monaco, where he has become one of the club’s standout forwards.
Brighton sees Minamino as a versatile player capable of filling multiple roles, including as a winger on either side or as an attacking midfielder.
The club appreciates not only his adaptability but also his tactical intelligence, which they believe would allow him to integrate well into their fluid and sometimes complex playing style.
Minamino’s top-level experience also plays a crucial role in Brighton’s interest. Having participated in the Champions League with both Liverpool and Monaco, he could be instrumental in helping Brighton compete for European qualification once again.
While Fichajes did not specify a transfer fee, earlier reports have valued Minamino at around €20 million (£17 million / $22 million). Notably, the Japanese international is reportedly open to returning to England to prove himself against high-quality opposition.
If he joins Brighton, Minamino would reunite with his fellow countryman, Kaoru Mitoma. He has previously played in the Premier League with Liverpool from January 2020 to July 2022.
Although he struggled to secure a regular starting position at Anfield, he was part of the squad that won the Premier League, FA Cup, and League Cup. During his time with Liverpool, Minamino scored 14 goals and provided three assists in 55 appearances, including a loan spell at Southampton.
Since moving to Monaco in the summer of 2022, Minamino has developed significantly and has become a key player for the team. This season, he has scored three goals and provided two assists in 10 matches, primarily playing as an attacking midfielder or right winger.
With his current form, he is optimistic about earning a spot in Brighton’s starting lineup and making a significant impact in the Premier League.
