Newcastle United star turned ‘transfer agent’ on Euro 2024 duty as £60m links emerge

With Newcastle United having started talks with Crystal Palace for Marc Guehi, Anthony Gordon’s wish might finally come true.
According to The Athletic, negotiations to bring the 24-year-old to St. James’ Park have started among Toon executives. After making an impression at Euro 2024, Guehi—who Palace values at £70 million—has been connected to Manchester United.
Newcastle would want to negotiate on that asking price and the piece claims they are the only club to make a formal approach. Centre-back is a priority for the Magpies as Eddie Howe aims to bolster his squad ahead of the new campaign.
Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles are unlikely to feature until January after suffering ACL injuries. With Newcastle yet to make a major breakthrough in the transfer market, signing Guehi would be considered a coup.

“He’s top, he’s such a good player and I was glad the nation got to see him shine on that stage because he’s such a lovely guy and he deserves what’s coming to him. I thought he was unbelievable in that game [vs Serbia] considering his height compared to the strikers they had on.
“He won every header, he was aggressive, intercepting loads and his main strength is composure on the ball, he’s like a midfielder. So him and Stonesy at the back, it’s a great partnership to control a game.”
