Los Angeles Rams surprisingly announce cutting ties with former Alabama tight end

The Los Angeles Rams announced on Friday that they have released tight end Miller Forristall from their practice squad. This decision was made as part of an injury settlement, although the specific nature of Forristall’s injury has not been revealed. This marks Forristall’s second year with the Rams’ practice squad.
An injury settlement is typically an agreement that allows a player and his team to part ways immediately while compensating the player for the regular-season games he will miss due to his injury.
In the Rams’ preseason opener on August 11, Forristall had a notable performance, catching a 6-yard touchdown pass in the final seconds to secure a 13-12 win over the Dallas Cowboys. However, he did not participate in any regular-season games during his time with Los Angeles. His last appearance in a regular-season game was on November 13, 2022.
Forristall began his NFL career in May 2021 when he signed as an undrafted rookie with the Tennessee Titans. Throughout that season, he spent time on the practice squads of both the Titans and the Cleveland Browns. As a rookie, he played in two games and made four appearances during the 2022 season with the Browns.
On January 26, 2023, Forristall signed with the New Orleans Saints. However, as training camp approached, he was placed on the physically unable to perform list on July 20 due to an undisclosed issue. Although he cleared his physical on July 24 and was eligible to practice, he was waived by the Saints the following day. Shortly after, on August 4, 2023, he signed with the Browns, but was released again on August 26 as the team finalized its 53-man roster for the regular season.
The Rams signed Forristall to their practice squad on September 12, 2023. He was released on December 5 but was brought back a week later.
During his five seasons at the University of Alabama, Forristall contributed to the team’s success as a member of the College Football Playoff national championship teams in 2017 and 2020. Over his college career, he recorded 44 receptions for 505 yards and five touchdowns with the Crimson Tide.
