23-year-old Southern California theater actor fatally shot while visiting Mexico

A trip to Mexico turned tragic when 23-year-old Isaac Lopez was shot and killed while driving in Rosarito. His family reported that he was visiting for his sister’s vow renewal ceremony when the incident occurred on his way back home.
Lopez was a cherished actor with the Old Town Temecula Community Theater, and his death has left a significant impact on the community. Jared Kramarsky, a tech assistant at the theater, expressed the deep loss felt by many:
“I know a lot of people in this community have been affected by this. It means I’ll never get to see him on stage again or get to know him deeper.”
According to his sister, after Lopez’s car veered into a ditch, a man approached them demanding money and wallets. Lopez’s boyfriend and cousin were also shot during the incident but managed to survive.
Kramarsky extended his condolences to Lopez’s family, and the U.S. State Department also issued a statement confirming the death of an American citizen in Rosarito, offering their condolences while respecting the family’s privacy.
The State Department had previously issued a warning urging Americans to exercise caution when traveling to Mexico, particularly in Baja, due to rising crime and kidnapping concerns. Lopez’s sister suspects that her brother may have been targeted because of his California license plates.
